Perched above dramatic cliffs that plunge into deep blue water, the camp offers direct access to a remarkable variety of world-class breaks — from the long, peeling waves of Beliche and the powerful beach break at Tonel to the hollow perfection of Coxos just up the coast. The exposed Atlantic fetch means swell arrives from nearly every direction, producing rideable waves on almost any day of the year.

The camp itself blends comfort with a no-fuss surf vibe. Guests stay in bright, modern rooms set around a central courtyard with a pool, and the communal areas — including a lounge with a fireplace, a rooftop terrace with ocean views, and a shared kitchen — encourage the kind of easy camaraderie that defines the best surf camps. ## Wavy Surfing Gear The camp maintains a pro-level equipment room stocked with custom-shaped soft-top boards for beginners, performance shortboards for the more experienced, and a full range of wetsuits (3/2mm in summer, 4/3mm in winter) to handle the Atlantic water temperatures. All equipment is included in the weekly packages.

## Booking a Surf Guiding Weekly packages include accommodation, daily breakfast, guided surf sessions, equipment, and airport transfers from Faro Airport (FAO), which is about a 90-minute drive east. Half-day, full-day, and private coaching options are also available for those on shorter stays.

## Best Year-Round Surf While the biggest, most consistent swell rolls in between September and April, Sagres delivers quality waves throughout the summer too. The main consideration is wind direction — the town benefits from predictable offshore breezes (northerlies) that groom the waves clean, especially in the morning. Water temperatures range from 14-16°C in winter to 18-22°C in late summer.
