Four ways to explore Morocco, Spain & Portugal

Outdoors Atlas covers 225 outdoor locations across Morocco, Spain and Portugal, organised around four activities we know and love: hiking, camping, surfing and viewpoints. Each activity page gives you the full picture — curated spots with difficulty ratings, best seasons, local tips and on-the-ground detail so you can plan a real trip, not just bookmark a photo.

Our hiking collection spans 60 trails evenly spread across all three countries — from the High Atlas summit of Jbel Toubkal (4,167 m) and the vertiginous boardwalks of Spain's Caminito del Rey to Portugal's wild Fishermen's Trail along the Costa Vicentina. Whether you want a gentle valley walk or a multi-day trek, the trail is here.

For camping, we list 60 campsites ranging from Sahara desert camps beneath the stars to pine-shaded pitches in the Alentejo cork forests and well-equipped coastal parks on the Costa Brava. Every entry includes facilities, access notes and nearby activities so you know what to expect before you arrive.

The Atlantic coastline delivers some of Europe's best surfing, with 60 surf spots across the three countries. Morocco's Taghazout point breaks, the longboard-friendly shores of Spain's Cantabria and Galicia, and Portugal's Ericeira World Surf Reserve offer waves for every level across one of the longest surf seasons on the continent.

Finally, our 45 scenic viewpoints — richest along the Spanish and Portuguese coasts — reward a short walk with sweeping ridgelines, dramatic sea cliffs, canyon overlooks and the sunset miradouros that the Iberian Peninsula does so well.
