Paradise Valley Hiking Route Start Point

Paradise Valley, Taghazout

Paradise Valley is a lush granite canyon hidden in the hills behind Taghazout, the famous surf town on Morocco's Atlantic coast. The hiking route start point sits at a cluster of argan trees where the track descends into the canyon, marking the beginning of a gentle walk through one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Agadir region. The valley gets its name honestly — a series of natural rock pools, smooth granite slabs and small waterfalls create a desert oasis that has become a beloved escape from the coast.

The main trail follows the canyon upstream, crossing the dry riverbed in several places and passing beneath the shade of fig and argan trees. The path is well-trodden and suitable for all fitness levels, making it popular with families and solo travellers alike. At several points the trail opens into wide rock terraces where hikers can stop for a picnic, and the deeper pools — some up to 3 metres deep — offer irresistible swimming in crystal-clear water that stays cool even in summer. The granite walls, sculpted by centuries of water flow, form natural slides and jumping platforms for the adventurous.

The best time to visit is between October and April, when the weather is warm but not scorching and the pools hold the most water after seasonal rains. The start point is accessible by taxi from Taghazout or Agadir, and local guides at the entrance offer informal tours. A hat, sturdy sandals or trainers, and a swimsuit are all you need for a perfect Paradise Valley day: hike in, swim, sunbathe on the warm rock, and hike back out as the light turns golden on the canyon walls.
