Saint Roque Viewpoint

The Mirador de San Roque surveys Viveiro from a hillside that captures the essence of Galicia's rías — those deep, fjord-like estuaries that define the region's coastline. From this elevated perch, the medieval town unfolds below in a tangle of slate roofs and narrow streets, while the Ría de Viveiro curves gracefully toward the Atlantic, its waters reflecting the ever-changing Galician sky. The estuary is framed by green hillsides dotted with eucalyptus and pine, creating a landscape of remarkable harmony.

The viewpoint takes its name from the adjacent Hermitage of San Roque, a modest 18th-century chapel whose whitewashed walls and stone bell tower add a touch of sacred serenity to the scene.
