Saint John of Arribes Viewpoint

Saint John of Arribes Viewpoint offers one of the most dramatic river views in Portugal, perched on the edge of the steep granite canyon that carries the Douro River along the border with Spain. The "Arribes" — the local name for the sheer cliffs that line this stretch of the river — drop hundreds of metres to the dark green water below, creating a landscape of dizzying scale and raw geological power.
